Interesting Information Associated With Speed And Agility Exercise Routines

By Mary Cox

Some of the prerequisites of becoming an athlete include being energetic, speedy and alert, as only then you can perform well in the game. Being lazy and lacking enough energy are not the ideal characteristics, as you won't be able to keep up with the games and performance levels of the other players. Having enough stamina to compete with the other athletes and give the best to your team in highly important.

Training yourself well and working on the areas where you need more improvement on becomes all the more important, in case you are already a good player. If such is the case, it would be silly to let your talent go to waste, just out of sheer laziness. If you want to work on improving your speed and levels of energy, some drills and exercises can do a great job at advancing your performance.

These exercises are not only meant for people who perform poorly, but for those athletes, too, who are good at the sport but end up lacking sufficient speed and agility. Sprints are one highly useful form of exercise which should be followed by athletes.

This proves to be a highly effective method and if done regularly, it will surely help you a lot. By running as fast as you can for around twenty five yards, you can become a fast runner, which will automatically have a positive effect on your overall speed.

You can then improvise on your sprints and change them to make them more advanced. For example, by adding cones to the field while sprinting in between them, one becomes better at running not only in a straight line but also while taking turns. By practicing this repeatedly, one gets better at investing in less energy in running and taking turns at the same time.

A much simpler form of drill that can be practiced by children is that of running in between a ladder. On the floor, just lay down a ladder and run while skipping the rungs. This helps greatly in promoting the coordination of one's legs and body.

Following such exercises plays a vital role in advancing the speed and agility, improving coordination and reflexes and promoting flexibility of the body.
